This week the Beverly Animal Shelter would like to introduce you to three handsome feline gentlemen who simply love people. How do we know? …Their letters to Santa include a request for a cuddly human.
POPLAR
This lovable guy was rescued from a stray cat colony. White and black Poplar arrived with an unexplained head tilt. Thought to be older than 5 years old, he needs a quiet loving home. Poplar likes to be petted. If he is picked up, he likes to be carried cradled in your arms while lying on his back like a baby. Poplar is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, micro-chipped and tested negative for FIV and Fe-Leuk.
CONKEY
Uniquely marked with scattered black and white patches, 6-month-old Conkey is simply adorable. He is a maturing kitten who is ready to settle down in a forever home. Sweet Conkey is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, micro-chipped and tested negative for both FIV and Fe-Leuk.
PERCY
Another Handsome hunk of kitty, Percy is a recent unclaimed stray who is estimated to be 4 years old. He is a real love who likes to be carried around on one’s shoulders. Mostly black, Percy arrived with a painful eye condition called entropion where an eyelid is turned inward so that the lashes are inward towards the eyeball. The eye problem was corrected with surgery, but he may have diminished vision in his right eye. All better now, affectionate Percy is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, micro-chipped, and tested negative for FIV and Fe-Leuk.
LAST WEEK’S PETS – All of last week’s pets, cuddly felines Ellen, Margaret and Peanut, remain waiting for someone who cares.

Have you adopted a cat from the Beverly Animal Shelter that you have seen here? Have they made your life that much better? Well, it is time for our annual “Happy Tails”. Please send a note about your cat along with a recent picture by December 15. We would like to share your “Happy Tail”!!
As a service to the community, the Beverly Animal Shelter has added a crematory for animal cremation, both individual and group. Call the Shelter at (315)539-9357 for more information.
Once again, the Beverly Animal Shelter will have a subsidized Spay & Neuter program for low-income pet owners. This is made possible by a generous Grant from the ASPCA. The Beverly Animal Shelter extends an appreciative “Thank You” to the ASPCA for their consideration.
The new Integrated Veterinary Service has begun at the Beverly Animal Shelter. Although held only once or twice a month, the long wait for spay or neutering has been greatly reduced! Call the Shelter to make your appointment. They are now taking reservations.
DUE TO THE DECREASE IN GOVERNMENT INCENTIVES, THE LOCAL RECYCLERS OF ELECTRONICS HAVE CLOSED DOWN. THEREFORE, THE BEVERLY ANIMAL SHELTER IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING ELECTRONICS FOR RECYCLING.

Unfortunately, The Purina Pets for Seniors Fund has been DISCONTINUED. However, BAS is attempting to continue Senior adoptions on an individual basis through the generosity of others.

Why not take the opportunity to spend some playtime with your favorite canine. The Dave Pullen Memorial Dog Park at the Beverly Animal Shelter is open Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm. It is located on the front center grounds at the Shelter and has a double-gated entrance. It is free to the public (though the Shelter always appreciates any donations!), but we do require you to stop by the shelter staff (at the store) to show proof of rabies and distemper vaccinations. We want everyone, including your dog safe! We also ask that you please clean up after your dog. Come on out and give your pup a chance to run off lead in a safe and enclosed environment!

SHELTER NEEDS –
Seneca Falls has had a limit of only 3 dogs allowed for decades. The Town of Tyre has also joined Interlaken, Romulus, and the Town of Waterloo in setting limits on the number of dogs one individual can own. Now, for the rest of Seneca County…

Please keep in mind when you enter the Shelter grounds, to adhere to the 5mph speed limit. A very sweet but deaf cat that had lived at the shelter for 17 years was killed because someone sped through the drive.
Dallyn, along with the ASPCA, would like to remind all cat owners of the importance (after spay and neutering) of cat collars (safety or breakaway) with proper identification for outdoor cats. The Shelter is overwhelmed by “found” but unclaimed cats. The hope of the Shelter is to be able to reunite the lost felines with their owners. Many types of collars are available for cats. Please, if you have lost your dog or cat, DO CALL the shelter. Do not wait for an advertisement of “found dog/cat” to appear in the newspaper.
Please be a responsible pet owner. Spay and neuter your pets to prevent more unwanted animals. ONLY YOU can prevent the overflow of kittens that begins each Spring and carries on into the Fall.
