A pair of step-siblings are dead after a crash Monday evening, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

The wreck happened when Taylor Christie, 21, of Marion was operating his vehicle south on Ridge Chapel Rd. His 16-year-old step-brother – identified as Evan Woodward, was the passenger in the vehicle, according to deputies.

Investigators say that Christie lost control of his vehicle, went off the roadway and struck a tree.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

This is the second fatal crash in 24-hours in Marion. Another driver died in an overnight crash when a vehicle left the roadway, flipped, and landed submerged in a creek.
