Members of the Auburn City Council voted unanimously to establish a new full-time position within the city’s Office of Planning and Economic Development during Thursday night’s city council meeting.
A planning assistant will replace the department’s former part-time secretary, who retired on Nov. 3.
The secretary position was part time since 2012 and posed “a daily challenge for the department, as senior-level staff (were) required to set aside their own work to cover administrative duties.”
The new planning assistant would “provide administrative support on a full-time basis, while have capacity to assist with the preparation of grants,” according to the resolution.
