Geneva PD to host holiday toy drive

Following a successful event last year, the Geneva Police Department, Police Benevolent Association and the Child Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes will again put on a holiday toy drive.

This year’s “fill the cruiser” event is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 9 at the public safety building on Exchange Street. The drive will also include drop-off locations around Geneva.

The Child Advocacy Center, based in Canandaigua, has a Geneva office on Pre-Emption Road and works closely with the Geneva PD. The center, a program of The Partnership for Ontario County, coordinates forensic interviews, medical evaluations, victim advocacy and other services for children who have been reported as victims of child abuse in the county.

Local child advocacy specialist Ashley Davoli is organizing the toy drive with Geneva PD Detective Matt Colton. They will work with caseworkers from the county Department of Social Services to identify families in need.
