Syracuse surges past Cornell in season opener (full coverage)

Sophomore Tyus Battle scored a game-high 18 points and freshman Oshae Brissett added 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead Syracuse past Cornell, 77-45, Friday night in the season opener for both sides at the Carrier Dome.

The game featured the collegiate debut of Cornell freshman Jimmy Boeheim playing on Boeheim Court against his father, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim. Jimmy Boeheim opened the game’s scoring with a 3-pointer and finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
