Auburn will unveil electric charging stations Friday at downtown parking garage

Auburn officials will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the city’s first electric vehicle charging station Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Lincoln Street parking garage.

There will be several electric vehicles on display at the event — the Nissan Leaf, the Chevrolet Bolt EV, and the Smart Fortwo Electric Drive — for people to ride in and test drive, according to a press release from the city.

The installation of the charging station was the final of four high-impact action items the city completed in order to receive a Clean Energy Community designation from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. The city was awarded the designation in October.
