After capturing the first state championships in their program’s histories last season, the boys cross country teams at Corning and Watkins Glen appear primed to make some noise in the postseason again this year.
Corning is coming off a sixth consecutive team title at the Southern Tier Athletic Conference championship meet Saturday in Oneonta. Watkins Glen was flat-out dominant at the Interscholastic Athletic Conference championships in Marathon, scoring 27 points to finish more than 100 better than runner-up Waverly’s 136.
