Members of the Penn Yan Police Department arrested a 41-year-old Bronx man following an investigation into the sale of assorted drugs in the village. The arrest took place on Halloween night, around 10:31 pm.
Jamal D. Fish, 41, was charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia following the incident on East Elm St.
Police say they observed Fish in a well-known ‘drug area’ and then hide behind a closed business on East Elm St.
When police began investigating, they detected the strong odor of marijuana. Upon investigation, police say Fish possessed hallucinogenic mushrooms, 2.25 ounces of concentrated cannabis, packaged marijuana and other items related to the sale of drugs.
Police say Fish is wanted by authorities in New Jersey on a ‘dangerous drug warrant’, but now faces multiple felony charges here, too.
He was remanded to the Yates County Jail following arraignment due to previous felony convictions.
