Wolcott parents charged with endangering child in home of squalor, now arrested for animal abuse

Following last week’s arrest of June M. Ellis, age 28, and Jacob Ellis, age 29, of 12014 East Main Street in the Village of Wolcott, the Wolcott Village Police lodged additional charges against the couple.

June and Jacob were arrested on Thursday (10/19) after were called to a gas smell in the upstairs apartment, above Ryan’s Pub on East Main Street.

The officer discovered a residence strewn with garbage, dog feces, urine, dog vomit, along with cat feces throughout the apartment. He also discovered the residence had no working smoke alarm and only one safe exit from the dwelling. He immediately called the Wolcott Code Enforcement Officer.

Originally charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Wolcott Police lodged an additional charge of Animal Abuse against the couple. Three dogs, two cats and three kittens were also in the apartment. One of the dogs was badly injured and walking on three legs. All the animals were signed over to the Humane Society of Wayne County.
