The family of the off-duty parole officer who was fatally shot by a Canandaigua Police Officer earlier this month is calling for a special prosecutor to review the case.
Sandy Guardiola’s family spoke publicly for the first time Saturday morning at a press conference in New York City with Rev. Al Sharpton.
At the conference, Guardiola’s son said he is calling on Governor Andrew Cuomo and Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to take over the investigation.
He believes a local investigation cannot be impartial, especially because the officer involved, Sgt. Scott Kadien worked part-time as a Wayne County Assistant District Attorney.
“We are here today to demand justice on her behalf,” her son said.
Rev. Al Sharpton also spoke at the press conference saying he is putting his full weight behind the family, to demand justice in the case.
