An Elmira man was convicted Friday morning for assaulting an 8-month-old child in November 2016.
Steuben County Court Judge Marianne Furfure returned a guilty verdict, convicting 29-year-old Steffan Miller of felony second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
On November 17, 2016, Miller was caring for the baby at a home in Bath. The child is not his own.
The child's mother came home and found the baby was injured, and had to be taken immediately to Arnot-Ogden Medical Center and then Strong Memorial Hospital.
