Ithaca tech firm awarded $9M for cyber security research

An Ithaca tech company has been awarded federal funds for research and development for protecting software from cyber attacks.

GrammaTech has been given $9 million dollars in funding from the Office of Naval Research. The company will be transforming existing software applications so they are tailored for each specific new situation. This will reduce the time between detecting and fixing system vulnerabilities.

GrammaTech will also remove unnecessary programs and features in current software. If those unneeded programs were to be left in, make it less safe, secure, and efficient.

The contract with the Office of Naval Research will last for three years.
