Sheriff: Driver had BAC of .33 near time of Ontario crash

Deputies in Wayne County arrested a Webster man following a one-car crash that happened this summer.

Jamie C. Smith, 25, of Webster was arrested following an investigation into an accident that took place on July 23rd.

According to investigators, Smith was traveling at a high rate of speed on Furnace Rd. in Ontario when he failed to reduce his speed while traveling through a curve — losing control of his vehicle.

His car struck a tree before coming to rest.

Smith was transported to Rochester General Hospital for evaluation and a blood sample was secured for the investigation. As result, his blood-alcohol content was determined to be .33 percent around the time of the accident.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, unlicensed operator, aggravated unlicensed operation, unreasonable speed, and refusal to take pre-screen breath test.

The charges will be answered in Ontario Town Court.
