Locktoberfest set to go in Seneca Falls this weekend

This weekend marks the first Locktoberfest celebration in Seneca Falls. Offering events for the young and old alike, it will be a full day of activities and Live entertainment. The entire event will be held on the North side of the Seneca Falls Canal Harbor on Saturday the 7th of October.
The day will kick-off with the Seneca Falls Rotary Pancake Breakfast at 7:00 am at the Seneca Falls Community Center.

The rest of the festivities will then open at 10:00 am and continue through 10:00 pm. Ann Sandroni, SFBA President said, “We have many family friendly activities. Captain Jack, sponsored by Generations Bank, will be there to entertain the children and he might commandeer a boat or two! We’ll have pumpkin painting, coloring contests, and other events for the families who visit. ” Vendors will line the entire Canal Harbor including the Seneca Falls Farmers Market, arts & crafts, local restaurants, local craft-beverages, and local organizations.

There will also be a wagon collection of nonperishable items for the Seneca County House of Concern pantry. “It will be the place to get your pumpkins for the Halloween Season! Since it is autumn in the Finger Lakes, you have to take a Hayride. Rodman Lott & Sons Farms and Meadville Pumpkin Farm Pumpkin Patch are providing tractor pulled Hayrides down our picturesque Ludovico Trail.” Sandroni added.

Live musical entertainment will begin on the Locktober Stage at 12:30 pm featuring singer-songwriters Madison Yearsley (12:30 to 2 p.m.) and Sam Swanson (2:30 to 5 p.m.), and bands Darwin (5:30 to 7:30 p.m.) and MixTape (8 to 10 p.m.). At 7:30 p.m., the festival’s grand finale, Light Up Locktoberfest, will see a fleet of floating lanterns, which visitors can purchase throughout the day, released to Light Up the canalway.

As food and beverages go, Locktoberfest will live up to its purpose by bringing in several area producers and restaurants, including Fleur De Lis Brew Works, Parker’s Grille & Tap House, Reinvention Brewing Co., Abigail’s Restaurant, Martin’s Smokehouse BBQ, River Master BBQ, The Downtown Deli, and more. Dennis Scannell, Locktoberfest Organizer, “the purpose of the event is to promote our Canal Harbor and Downtown Business Corridor.

Seneca Falls has a lot to offer, from our history to our welcoming community atmosphere. There is so much to take advantage of and the opportunities are here in Seneca Falls. We are inviting everyone to visit us to experience our community and to enjoy our Locktoberfest celebration.”
Working with the Canal Corporation and other New York State organizations, the Locktoberfest is inviting all Finger Lakes boaters to visit the Canal Harbor, aka “The Wall”, during the last weekend of boating on the NY State Canal System. “We are expecting a large contention of boaters for this event and the canal authority has granted permission to extend the hours of operation for the Seneca Falls, Waterloo, and Cayuga Locks from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday and Friday to facilitate visitation,” Scannell added. The Canal Harbor offers free docking, electric, and water hook-ups as well as phone & internet services. Convenient shower and laundry facilities are also available.

The Seneca Falls Business Association (SFBA) serves as the organizer of the event and invites everyone to visit Locktoberfest’s official web site at locktoberfest.senecafalls.com to learn more. For up-to-the-minute updates, please Like Us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/SenecaFallsLocktoberfest
