Marion sophomore striker Chloe DeLyser surpassed U.S. Women’s Soccer legend Abby Wambach’s Section V girls soccer career goal-scoring mark of 142 and is in a tie for fifth all-time with Jamie Koehnlein (Honeoye, 2001) with 144 goals after finishing off a penalty kick in a 4-1 win over Gananda on Friday night.
DeLyser, the 5-foot-4 varsity starter since seventh grade, scored all four goals in that win to increase her season total to 31 goals and 18 assists (80 points). The Black Knights are off to a perfect 10-0 start, led by DeLyser’s 3.1 goals and 1.8 assists per game.
