The Wayne County Sheriff’s Welfare Fruad Unit, working in conjunction with the Department of Social Services arrested a Sodus woman after failing to report income.
Deputies say Danielle E. Peters, 33, of Sodus completed an application at the Wayne County DSS building in November 2016, and failed to report her husbands income when completing the re-certification application. It was confirmed using a CINTRACS hit that Peters husband was employed and collecting a full-time paycheck at the time she had completed the application.
AS result, Peters received $1,286 worth of benefits she should have never received. Deputies charged Peters with first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, fourth-degree welfare fraud and fourth-degree grand larceny.
She was issued an appearance ticket and released.
The charges will be answered at a later date in Lyons Town Court, according to deputies.
