Downtown Canandaigua business a ‘treasure’

Have you dreamed of discovering buried treasure? For centuries, pirates and explorers have spent their lives hunting for hidden gems, from the stashed wealth left behind by Olivier Levasseur to the mythical philosopher’s stone.

Turns out this Ontario County downtown has its own hidden gem.

Finger Lakes Treasure Trove celebrated its grand reopening Saturday. Originally opened in July 2016 by Joanne Moon Heveron and her mother, Jean Lansberry, this establishment wants to improve the lives of as many people as possible. From the racks and hangers to the clothes they hold, everything in the store was donated either by individuals or nearby retail stores going out of business.

When asked who they benefit with the proceeds from their sales, Lansberry responded: “You and other members of the surrounding area.” They work to keep their overhead minimal by working tirelessly to unload, clean, tag, size, price, and move each item to the racks.
