Geneva Housing Authority grant to fund security upgrades

The Geneva Housing Authority is in select company.

The agency, which provides affordable housing to families, individuals and senior citizens, has received a $250,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Capital Fund Emergency Safety and Security Program, which helps local housing authorities address safety and security issues.

The funding announcement came through the offices of U.S. senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, as well as Congressman Tom Reed, R-23 of Corning, whose district includes Geneva.

The funds may be used to install, repair or replace items such as security systems, fencing, lighting systems, deadbolt locks, doors and other security-related equipment.
