Deputies: Phelps woman had 20 bags of Fentanyl during stop

Investigators in Ontario County say a 29-year-old Phelps woman faces drug charges after a traffic stop on State Route 14.

Amanda Smith, 29, of Phelps was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after her vehicle was stopped — and more than 20 bags of Fentanyl was located. According to investigators, she was planning on giving the Fentanyl to another person.

The arrest was the result of an extended investigation into the sale of narcotics in Ontario and Seneca counties.

The Geneva and Canandaigua Police Departments also assisted, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
