A Waterloo Town Court proceeding involving the second-degree harassment charge against Town Board member Thomas Ruzicka has been adjourned to 8:30 a.m. Sept. 22.
The charge is based on a complaint filed by fellow Town Board member David DeLelys after a May 5 incident in Parker’s Bar & Grille in downtown Seneca Falls.
DeLelys said he and his wife were in the restaurant after a special board meeting. DeLelys said Ruzicka was seated at the bar.
As DeLelys walked by the bar, he said, Ruzicka left his chair, grabbed DeLelys’ shirt, pulled it upwards and yelled at him before other patrons interceded. DeLelys said he has had two neck surgeries and experienced neck pain after the incident, resulting in him undergoing physical therapy.
At the special meeting earlier that night, the board voted 3-2 to approve Local Law 2 of 2017, which rescinded Local Law 3 of 2016, legislation that would have prohibited any new solid waste disposal facilities in the town and required Seneca Meadows Landfill to close by Dec. 31, 2025.
