Cayuga County legislators disagree on next phase for county administrator candidates

Five candidates remain for the Cayuga County administrator position following a review process of more than 60 applicants from “all over the world,” said Andrew Dennison, county legislator for District 2.

Dennison gave a hiring update to the county Legislature Tuesday night, spurring a debate on how the body should move forward with the final interviews.

The county has been without an administrator — a position that oversees county departments and agencies, among many other important functions — for about five months following the resignation of Suzanne Sinclair. In that time the body has updated the position’s job description and a local law establishing the administrator.
