I always enjoy how a photograph can lead you down a path to learning new and fun things. In the Blake file of the collection at the historical society, I found a photo of the Port Byron Drugstore. The photo gives us a nice close-up look at the men and if you look carefully, you can see what drug stores carried for sale. But there was some question as to who it was and where it was located. Another photo, actually a colorized postcard, shows the drug store in the Masonic Building. OK, I lined up the doors and windows, and confirmed what I thought was correct. Heather Worthington has kindly sent us a history of the Blake family, and although we don’t know if the two men are Blakes or maybe their workers, we do know this is a early image of the Blakes’ drug store.
