Investigators: Penn Yan man stole $1,500 in merchandise from Canandaigua Walmart

Deputies say a 29-year-old Penn Yan man stole more than $1,500 in merchandise from the Canandaigua Walmart.

On Wednesday around 8:40 pm Russell Jesse Aliff, 29, of Penn Yan was arrested for fourth-degree grand larceny following an investigation into two events that took place in May.

Aliff is accused of stealing more than $1,500 in merchandise on May 25th and 26th of this year. The incidents were investigated by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, which resulted in the arrest of Aliff.

On May 25th $1,027.73 worth of merchandise was stolen from the store. The next day, Aliff returned and stole another $563.76 in merchandise.

He was issued appearance tickets for the charge and will answer them in Hopewell Town Court.
