The Auburn Enlarged City School District Board of Education discussed how to advocate for fixing the foundation aid formula for schools.
At a workshop Tuesday night at the Harriet Tubman Administration Building, the board discussed different ideas to communicate with lawmakers about ideas to improve and fully fund the formula or to either lower or eliminate the Income Wealth Index “floor” of .65 — as districts with an IWI higher than .65 get fully funded.
One of the ideas district superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo showed to the board was a hashtag for the initiative, #FixAndFund, showing a design made for it. It was later pointed out by board member Fred Cornelius that same hashtag is currently being used in reference to the Affordable Care Act.
