The Ontario County Republican Committee is proud to announce its first Constitution Day Dinner on the evening of Friday, Sept. 8, at Club 86 in Geneva.
The event will feature federal and state lawmakers, including Rep. Chris Collins of Buffalo, Sen. Pam Helming of Canandaigua, Sen. Rich Funke of Fairport and Leader Brian Kolb of Canandaigua. Other highlights will be the presentation of the Ontario County Republican of the Year award and honoring Committee Persons of the Year from all the Town and City Republican Committees.
“We plan to make the Constitution Day Dinner an annual event to meet and hear from prominent Republican office holders and to celebrate success on the local, state and national levels,” said Trisha Turner, County Republican Committee Chairwoman.
Constitution Day is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is normally observed on Sept. 17, the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia.

Rep. Chris Collins, who represents part of Ontario County and nearby western counties, will talk on the latest developments on the federal level while State Sens. Helming and Funke and Leader Kolb will comment on state issues. Helming and Funke together represent Ontario County while Kolb represents all of Ontario County. Other state and federal legislators are expected to attend.

Collins, a former businessman and Erie County Executive, has represented the 27th Congressional District since 2013. The district includes all or part of Ontario, Livingston, Monroe, Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee and Wyoming counties.
Helming is in her first term as state senator from the 54th District representing portions of Ontario, Cayuga, Monroe and Tompkins counties and Seneca and Wayne counties. A former Town of Canandaigua supervisor, she was elected to the State Senate last November.
Funke, a former television journalist, was first elected to the State Senate from the 55th District in 2014. He represents portions of Ontario and Monroe Counties.
Kolb was first elected to the State Assembly in 2000 and was selected as Minority Leader in 2009. His 131st District includes all of Ontario County and part of Seneca County.
