Deputies say a tractor-trailer fire resulted in the White Springs and West Lake Road fire departments to be called to the scene on State Route 14.
The fire was noticed by the operator of the tractor-trailer around 12:24 pm on Thursday. Douglas Shoemarker, 59, of Shortsville noticed the rear tires on the passenger’s side of the trailer were on fire.
Shoemarker was able to get the tractor-trailer stopped and disconnected the tractor from the trailer, according to deputies.
It appears that the fire started from the brakes on the trailer. The contents of the truck sustained major damage.
The tractor-trailer is owned by Rist Transport, LTD of Bostwick Rd. in Phelps.
