OFFICIALS: Emergency orders, road closures extended for Sodus Point

Sodus Point Mayor Christian Tertinek reports that emergency orders, which have been standing for weeks in parts of Wayne County — have been extended.

The official extension means that power driven vessels can operate at no more than idle speed on Great Sodus Bay. It also means that sand bags must remain in place, per the emergency order to protect property from water and wave damage.

It also covers a road closure at Greig St. from Wolcott St. eastward, as of 12:01 am on August 9th.

Tertinek says that disobeying these emergency orders is a misdemeanor and that they will remain active for five days, unless rescinded at some point by the chief executive of Sodus Point.

The extension comes days after the move by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to publicly blast the International Lake Ontario – St. Lawrence River Board for their decision to reduce outflows from Lake Ontario, which remains at historic flood stage.
