IF YOU GO: DEC hearing on future of Seneca Meadows to take place Thursday

On Thursday, the controversial Seneca Meadows Landfill debate will once again be re-ignited as DEC officials hold a public hearing on the potential extension of a 10-year permit.

While opponents and supporters of Seneca Meadows have sounded off regularly at monthly Town Board meetings in Seneca Falls — this will be the first opportunity for state officials to hear these arguments.

Two sessions are scheduled on Thursday — the first beginning at 3 pm, with the second beginning at 6 pm.

Both will be held at the Mynderse Academy Auditorium, located on Troy St.

The last two public hearings held in Seneca Falls on landfilling drew dozens of speakers and hours of testimony. Both pertained to local laws, which were ultimately adopted in the polarized community between Seneca and Cayuga lakes.

FingerLakes1.com will have post-hearing coverage of the session, which could last hours.
