The Rochester Red Wings are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the original Garbage Plate by changing their name to the Rochester Plates for one night on Thursday night and season-ticket holder Irene Cheney will be there with macaroni salad, home fries, mustard and hot sauce on — her fingernails.
“It’s iconic, there’s no where else you can go to get this regional dish, there’s no way,” Cheney, of Marion, Wayne County, said last week while showing off her most recent manicure. “We have to explain the whole thing to them. Once you eat one you’re hooked.”
