Prosecutors: 61-year-old charged with murder of Sodus woman

A 61-year-old man has been charged with murdering a Sodus woman, according to prosecutors in Wayne County.

Alvin Pinkard Sr., 61, was arrested Monday night after a grand jury handed up an indictment against him in the death of his ex-wife, 57-year-old Josephine Chiaverini.

Chiaverini was found dead by Troopers at her home, on the back porch, on October 6th, 2016 according to investigators. The home is located on Joy Rd. in Sodus.

Pinkard was arrested shortly after his ex-wife was discovered dead. At the time though, he was not charged with any crimes beyond violating an order of protection.

Wayne County District Attorney Chris Bokelman added, “Credit goes to the New York State Police for all of their diligent work and continuing efforts to bring justice for Ms. Chiaverini and her family and friends, and also to all of the decent folks who came forward to provide whatever assistance and information they could to help solve this terrible tragedy.”
