Cayuga County will be one of several counties in the state to defer mandated shared services plans until 2018.
County Legislature Chairman Keith Batman outlined reasons for delaying the creation of a plan to county legislators last week citing a tight timeline to implement anything worthwhile and the lack of a county administrator.
The state Department of State said it was still tabulating the number of counties who have submitted plans, but Mark LaVigne, deputy director of the New York State Association of Counties said the organization knows of around 15 that plan to submit theirs next year.
