Monday will not be a washout, forecasters say

The weather system that was expected to bring a shot of rain to the region on Monday is now going to stay far enough away that it should only result in a few showers during the afternoon, according to forecasters.

The latest information from the National Weather Service suggests that while it will be a mostly cloudy day, with an increasing risk of showers throughout the afternoon — heavy precipitation should stay out of the Finger Lakes.

That’s ideal for the communities already soaked from heavy thunderstorms late in the week, which brought damaging winds and hail, in addition to the heavy rainfall.

The rest of the week looks relatively calm, but will likely bring on- and off- rain showers.

Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 7 pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 7 pm and 9 pm, then a chance of showers after 9 pm. Cloudy, with a low around 58. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
