Waterloo man arrested for possessing ‘blackjack’ at Maple Grove Cemetery

A 54-year-old Waterloo man was arrested on Saturday around 10:45 am after an investigation into an incident that took place at the Maple Grove Cemetery on July 27th.

That incident took place around 7:31 pm and police say they were called to the cemetery for the report of a suspicious male carrying a large knife.

When police arrived they found a combat knife and club commonly referred to as a blackjack.



Stephen L. Rapini, of Waterloo was subsequently charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and will answer the charge in Waterloo Village Court.

A blackjack is a small, easily concealed club consisting of a leather-wrapped lead weight attached to the end of a leather-wrapped coil spring or rigid shaft, according to police.
