Around 3:52 pm on Thursday, the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office says 54-year-old Bernard C. Smith, of Montezuma was struck on the passenger side by an oncoming vehicle operated by Jessica A Dunn, 32, of Auburn at the intersection of Grant Avenue Rd. and County House Rd. in Sennett.
The injuries were serious, but not life threatening, according to the Sheriff’s Office. LifeNet transported one of the patients to Upstate University Hospital, while the second patient was transported to Upstate via ambulance.
According to the investigation, Smith failed to yield the right of way to Dunn while turning left onto County House Rd.

One person was airlifted from the scene of a serious crash in Sennett on Thursday.
The accident happened in the area of Grant Avenue Rd. and County House Rd. and involved two vehicles with injuries to two individuals.
One person was airlifted to an area hospital with a serious head injury, according to scanner traffic. While the second person was experiencing chest pain following the accident.
Sennett Rescue and Weedsport Ambulance were called to the scene. Life Net also responded to the scene to airlift the one accident victim from the scene.
There was a reported police presence at the scene for a period after the accident, as crews worked to clear and reconstruct the incident.
