The Elmira Pioneers defeated the Geneva Red Wings in the first round of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League Playoffs on Tuesday night at McDonough Park in Geneva, running away with the victory 12-2.
Elmira starting pitcher Houston Roth set the tone early with 11 strikeouts, allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits in 5 innings on the mound. Offensively, the middle of the Pioneer’s line-up did extensive damage to Geneva’s pitching with home runs from Dixon, Grammes and Schafer.
