Collins unveils bill in Congress to repeal Cuomo’s NY SAFE Act

A western New York Republican congressman wants to limit the ability of states to regulate rifles and shotguns — and he's taking aim at the SAFE Act, a major gun control measure adopted in New York in 2013.

U.S. Rep. Chris Collins introduced the Second Amendment Guarantee Act that would prevent states from enacting gun control measures that are more restrictive than existing federal statutes.

Collins' bill would apply to rifles, shotguns and "any part of the weapon including any detachable magazine or ammunition feeding device and any type of pistol grip or stock design," according to a news release.
