A member of the Auburn Police Department is recovering after a physical incident with a Cayuga Centers’ teen.
Officer Scott Deyo, a four-year member of the department, was in the area of Osborne St. on routine patrol when he discovered a male in the roadway impeding traffic.
Officer Deyo exited his patrol car to advise the male to move out of the roadway, when the male became argumentative with the officer, according to the Auburn Police Department. The man then aggressively lunged at Officer Deyo grabbing him around the neck.
While attempting to arrest and place the 16-year-old male into custody, Officer Deyo sustained lacerations to both of his elbows, and knees, requiring several sutures.
Deyo sustained a fracture to his right elbow, as result of the incident as well, according to police reports.
The 16-year-old is a Cayuga Centers’ resident and was charged with second-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing or circulation, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
The Auburn Police Department is asking for anyone with additional information related to this incident call (315) 253-3231.
