‘SIMPLY SELFLESS’: Penn Yan couple to receive Stork Award for Community Service

If there is a theatrical performance in the Penn Yan area, chances are Dean and Grace Knapton are involved.

Very involved.

The Penn Yan couple, long known for giving back to their hometown, have been named recipients of Keuka College’s 2017 Donald and Corinne Stork Award for Community Service. They will be honored during an Aug. 15 luncheon in the Geiser Dining Commons at Dahlstrom Student Center.

“We are so humbled and honored to receive this award. We do all that we do for our love of the community and we enjoy what we do,” Grace Knapton said. “Being recognized for this work is something we never expected.”

Called “shining examples of community service,” the Knaptons have consistently demonstrated the “service above self” motto. They can often be found giving their time and talents to improve the lives of area youth through fundraising, volunteerism and exemplary leadership.
