Auburn City Council takes next steps on Owasco River Trail, State Street Bridge projects

The next steps for two Auburn construction projects were approved at Thursday’s city council meeting.

The city council unanimously voted to award the construction contract for the Owasco River Greenway Trail Project to the Seneca Stone Corporation for nearly $2 million.

Director of Capital Projects Christina Selvek said construction for the first phase of the 12-mile pedestrian trail will begin in mid-August, following approval from the state Department of Transportation.

The path will run alongside the Owasco River and will be constructed in phases. The first phase is a two-mile stretch from State Street to Mill Street. Upon completion, the trail will connect Wadsworth Park, on the city’s west side, to Emerson Park and cost approximately $9 million.
