New York will spend nearly $60 million to pave and repair nearly 400 miles of state roads in the Southern Tier, a project that will affect eight counties, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced.
Broome will receive $17.8 million in funding to pave a little over 80 miles of roads. Tompkins will receive roughly $2 million for eight miles of roads, and Chemung will get $10 million to pave or repair roughly 60 miles.
The funds are part of a roughly $400 million state investment to pave or repair nearly 1,700 miles of roads. The money was approved by the legislature earlier this year, but was announced by Cuomo’s office in a press release Thursday.
Paving is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
