Auburn woman charged with second DWI in 10 years

An Auburn woman was arrested Tuesday for her second driving while intoxicated charge in 10 years, the Auburn Police Department said.

At around 1:30 a.m. July 4, officers allegedly stopped 55-year-old Karen A. Montesano on Van Anden Street for driving with a suspended registration. However, upon further investigation, police determined Montesano was also impaired by alcohol.

Montesano, of 47 Pulaski St. Apt. 2, was charged with driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both felonies. She was also charged with driving with a suspended registration, a misdemeanor, as well as driving without insurance and refusing to take a breath test, both violations.
