Auburn and Aurelius Swift Water Rescue teams were called to the scene of an incident on Monday involving a person stuck on a small island along Turnpike Rd.
The call came in around 3 pm for a person stuck on a small island in a river. Port Byron was requested to standby at the Hayden Bridge, and first responders from Auburn, Port Byron, Throop and Aurelius all assisted at the scene.
According to scanner traffic, the subjects were kayaking in the river and due to recent heavy rains — the river was running faster than usual.
Nearly an hour later, crews were still working to get the stranded individual off of the island — even as first responders on the ground said there were no injuries.
