The state Department of Environmental Conservation Region 8 Office in Avon is providing an opportunity for public comment on two permit applications.
One is an application from the town of Geneva on behalf of the Geneva Water District No. 13 on Route 14 North.
The town is seeking a freshwater wetlands permit to allow the placing of a water main by open trench method within the regulated adjacent area of a freshwater wetland along Pre-Emption Road.
The water main is part of a larger water project around Routes 14 and 318 that will involve the towns of Waterloo, Junius, Phelps and Geneva.
The DEC will accept written comments by July 13 prior to making a final decision on the permit. The DEC has made a tentative determination to issue the permit.
