Thunderstorms with heavy downpours, which could lead to some flash flooding is expected to develop this afternoon.
Around 3 pm is when FLX Weather Meteorologist Drew Montreuil says the storms will begin to fire up, which could lead to some poor drainage flooding. He says the atmosphere is primed for these heavy, torrential downpours along with the storms firing ahead of the cold front, which will bring less-humid, more stable air to the region for the weekend.
Montreuil says that the hail, wind, and tornado threat is minimal. While not completely out of the question – the biggest risk will be the flooding.
This won’t be a widespread flooding issue, either. It’ll be an event that is extremely localized. That means if your plans take you outdoors this afternoon – pay attention to local weather outlets, and keep an eye to the sky.
