Jury selection slated to begin for four accused of murder in Craig Rideout homicide

A judge Monday denied a request to move the trial for the four accused of killing Craig Rideout, clearing the way for jury selection to begin Tuesday.

Attorney Matthew Parrinello asked for a change of venue, saying that some information made public by the media has since been suppressed and cannot be used as evidence at trial.

For instance, the Democrat and Chronicle has reported on statements allegedly made by Colin Rideout. State Supreme Court Justice Thomas Moran last week ruled some alleged statements will not be allowed at trial: Colin Rideout, whom Parrinello represents, was being detained when he made the alleged remarks and should have been read his rights beforehand, Moran ruled.
