Seneca County Sheriff Tim Luce says that on Friday around 9:52 am his office responded to State Route 414 in Tyre for a tractor-trailer fire.
Deputies say that when they arrived the truck cab was fully-engulfed in flames. The truck and trailer were blocking northbound traffic on Route 414 when the truck cab began filling with smoke, according to deputies.
The driver, identified as Steve Haygood, 54, of South Carolina was able to free himself from the truck before any injuries were sustained.
Magee and Junius Fire Departments both responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
Traffic on Route 414 was backed up for nearly 90 minutes. The truck and trailer sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene.
Deputies say the cause of the fire, after an investigation, was an electrical issue.
