The city of Auburn will have stiff competition for a $10 million grant to improve its downtown corridor.
The Central New York Regional Economic Development Council received applications from five municipalities — Auburn, Cazenovia, Cortland, Fulton and Syracuse — that will be considered in the second round of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative.

The council will review the submissions and select a nominee. If the Department of State approves, the winning municipality will receive a $10 million windfall.
