Plenty of sun, heat, and humidity this weekend in the Finger Lakes

Thursday was a wet one.

Especially for the folks living in Ontario and Livingston counties, where cleanup efforts are ongoing.

That said, temperatures will rise on Friday into the mid-80s, and the sun will take center stage throughout the afternoon. A few pop up showers or thunderstorms are possible, but unlikely, according to the National Weather Service.

The heat is going to build into the region on Saturday and Sunday, along with humidity – which will push temperatures into the upper-80s. Some areas could even cross the 90-degree mark during the afternoon hours on Saturday or Sunday.

Sunday will be an active weather day with an increased threat for severe weather.

FLX Weather Meteorologist Drew Montreuil says that the heat, humidity and wind will set the stage for an active late-afternoon as a strong cold front approaches from the west.

He says that the atmosphere will be more than capable of producing at least a few strong to severe thunderstorms, with damaging winds being the primary threat.
