CORNELL MURDER TRIAL: Jury hears opening statements

With the final seven slots of the jury filled during the morning, the prosecution and defense presented their opening statements Monday afternoon in the murder trial of Nagee Green.

Green, 23, of Freeville, is accused of fatally stabbing a 19-year-old Ithaca College student to death following a party on Cornell’s campus last August. Green has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault in the death of Anthony Nazaire.

During the prosecution’s opening statement in Tompkins County Court, Assistant District Attorney Eliza Filipowski revealed Nazaire was stabbed only once — a fatal wound to the chest. Green is also accused of stabbing Raheim Williams three times.
