Yates County’s Griffin named economic developer of the year

Between 2009 and 2015, there were about 230 new economic development projects in Yates County, and there have been a number of others since.

The man largely credited with that growth has been honored by a state agency.

Steve Griffin, who has been president and CEO of the Finger Lakes Economic Development Center — Yates County’s economic development agency — for about 11 years, was named 2017 Economic Developer of the Year by the New York State Economic Development Council (NYSEDC).

The award was presented May 25 at the council’s annual meeting in Cooperstown.
